Living Lent – Day 16

Read… Jeremiah 18: 13-20

Remember how I stood before you to speak good for them, to turn away your wrath from them.

It’s one of those silly moments. As soon as I looked at Living Lent and saw the reading was from Jeremiah it sprang into my mind “Jeremiah was a bullfrog” It was a song! I tried it out on my young friends in the BBGA and they looked at me as if I was daft. So, I Googled it.

Written by Hoyt Axton, recorded by “Three Dog Night” No 1 in US Charts; 24 in UK. Used in several films and TV series and used as a theme song for the Denver Broncos American Football team. So how does it go? Here’s the first verse and chorus:

Jeremiah was a bullfrog
Was a good friend of mine
I never understood a single word he said
But I helped him a-drink his wine
And he always had some mighty fine wine
Singin’

Joy to the world
All the boys and girls now
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me

The world could do with a bit of joy right now, don’t you think?

Ponder… How can and do churches and individuals seek to ensure that they do not forget God?

Pray… FOR OUR COMMUNITY Pray for 16 to 18 year olds – the point at which young people begin to discern the direction they are going to take in work or education. Some of our BBGA members fall into this group. We pray that they may truly begin to flourish as they develop their own gifts and skills in their learning. FOR THE WORLD Pray for all youngsters who are making decisions as to the direction they want to go in life. Pray that they may encounter wise encouragers and role models and that they may choose ways that are good.

Act… Buy a local newspaper and pray for the people you read about.
