Worship is the central focus of the life of this church. It is a time of learning, a time of renewal, a time of praise, a time of reflection, a time of fellowship and a time to re-charge your spiritual batteries and equip you for your Christian life in the weeks ahead. Our Sunday worship is designed to encompass various styles and needs in the hope of reaching as many people as possible in a way that is relevant to them. We usually have three services each Sunday, although sometimes have four, when we have ‘Messy Church’ or similar services especially for young families. Our Boy’s Brigade and Girl’s Association join us for parade services several times a year. These are advertised on our outdoor notice board.
9.30am – Encounter
Between our two morning services there is time for a cup of fresh filter coffee or tea and a biscuit or two! This is a time to chat and catch up with friends old and new.
11am – Traditional
6.30pm – Evening Worship
7pm – New Song Café, on the second Sunday of each month, in place of our usual evening worship.
Communion is celebrated once a month. At these services we remember that Jesus after sharing bread said “Do this to remember me”. If you wish to share in communion at St James Road Methodist Church you are very welcome whatever your age or background. The wine we use is non-alcoholic.
Communion at the 9.30am service has an informal, family friendly feel with the 11am and 6.30pm communion services being more formal in approach.
