Living Lent – Day 34

Read… Matthew 1: 18-25

Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for the child conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.

Today our thinking is for those struggling with mental health. Our awareness of this issue has increased in recent years and it is much more common than we may think. Some people describe it as a black cloud – something which comes without reason. One of the key things in helping to cope with this condition is people who will sensitively support us and also the opportunity to be able to share in meaningful activities and to be in the company of others.

As we think of those who struggle today may we also give thanks that we have the blessings of a place where activities can be provided where otherwise there would be social isolation.

One thing you might try today is to just be mindful of every small thing today and consciously thank God for it.

Ponder… Who are the people in your life who have provided you with invaluable support (perhaps at great personal cost)? Take the time to give thanks to God for them.

Pray… FOR OUR COMMUNITY We pray for those in our community who are struggling with their mental health. We pray that we may be a community that offers support, not only to those who are suffering, but also to those who care for them. FOR THE WORLD We pray that as a society we will continue to work to combat the stigma of mental illness. We pray for all of the support services who work in mental health.

Act… Give lots of smiles away today.
