From the Minister

We have introduced a whole new page on the SJR web site. "From the Minister" is an opportunity for our minister, Terry Hudson, to communicate with the wider congregation on important issues affecting our church life.

This second article looks at our Church finances and how we might respond to the financial and membership challenges which now face us.
SJR is situated on St James Road, in the heart of Shirley, Southampton. Whatever your age or background, you will find SJR to be warm and welcoming. Whether you are a lifelong member, or just thinking of visiting for the first time, we hope that you will come and join us, to find out what being part of the church community is all about.

Our Promises to You

  • We will be family-friendly
  • We will be practical and relevant
  • We will help you explore answers to your deepest questions

Thinking of joining us?

For some people it can seem pretty daunting to walk into a church for the first time; even if you've been to a different church before.

All we can say is, "Don't worry!" It's our job and our purpose to make you welcome.

A Steward will meet you at the door with a smile and a hand-shake. Just say that you are here for the first time and we will take it from there.

So, don't be afraid - just take that first step and we will help you the rest of the way...

St James Road Youth Club

St James Road Youth Club opened it's doors for the first time on Saturday 17th April! If you are 9 +, got nothing to do on a Saturday night not even any Xfactor to watch... You should come to St James Road Youth Club, starting 6:30 - 8:30 Saturday nights. For computer games, music, football, volley ball, cricket and basketball. Or just hanging out with your friends. Looking forward to seeing you all."
